Immerse Yourself in the Old West
The Old West is still alive in Cody. You can learn about the area and attend events.

* Attend the Cody Nite Rodeo any night June-August.
Watch all of the exciting rodeo action, such as bronco and bull riding, barrel racing, and calf roping.
* Attend Dan Miller's Cowboy Music Revue (it's a must do)

* Take a ride on the trolley and learn 100 years of Cody history in just one hour

* Walk through Old Trail Town, a reconstructed frontier village.
* Expand your mind at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, called the Smithsonian of the West by the well-known author James Michener. This extensive complex includes the Buffalo Bill Museum, Whitney Gallery of Western Art, the Plains Indian Museum, the Cody Firearms Museum, and in 2002, the Draper Museum of Natural History. A thorough visit could take two days.
* Attend special events, such as the Plains Indian Pow Wow in June. Refer to the Cody Chamber of Commerce community calendar for a list of all the events.
* Ride nearby trails on horseback.
* Shop for antiques and replicas of Old West artifacts.
* Buy boots, chaps, and a 10-gallon hat, or try on deerskin clothing like the frontiersmen wore.

View Yellowstone
Enter Yellowstone National Park through the East entrance May through September. The crowds are greatly reduced before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.

* Join professional day tours (we suggest Grubsteak Tours) or drive the scenic routes.
* Watch the geysers and other thermal phenomena.
* Perhaps catch a glimpse of predator wildlife (bear, eagles, wolves, coyotes).
* Observe the buffalo, elk, and deer that usually are visible during the day.

Challenge Yourself
Try new adventures or hone your skills.

* Take a raft trip down a nearby river canyon.
* Explore vistas on a mountain bike or by hiking.
* Draw, paint, or photograph the incredible scenery in the surrounding region.
* Take a flying lesson or view Yellowstone and the surrounding region from a light plane.
* Learn local history on a self-guided walking tour.
